Chapter 15
Known limits
Things Dreamer Pro does not do, or has not proven, in this version.
Playback#
- A slideshow runs on Dreamer Pro's own clock. It cannot ride a hosted video.
- A Shared Dream on hosted video cannot be gated, because the room's video cannot be held shut. A Local Dream can.
- A Local Dream on hosted video builds its own video player, and every one in the scene is alive when the world loads. Nothing limits how many a world carries, so be sparing on Quest.
- Unity's Play mode cannot play a Local Dream's video.
Dreamwalkers#
- Posing needs VR hands. Desktop cannot pose. Two hands on the same part: the first hand keeps it.
- Quest animates at most three performers at once. Any others are left as the scene had them until one of the three leaves.
- Walk To works on level ground only.
- The full face has not been tested in a headset.
- A Motion row that spans two Presence nodes has not been tested.
- Recording needs VRChat running on the same computer as Unity, and a recording world with the Dreamer recording panel.
Editor#
- Markers cannot be renamed or dragged after they are placed.
- There is no zoom-to-fit.
- Tracks cannot be reordered.
- Split at playhead works on Cue, FX and Presence nodes only.
- The Prompt track has at most two lanes, and the Image track at most four.
- Ctrl+D on one node duplicates in place. With several selected, and with the right-click Duplicate, the copies land one second later.
Dream files#
- A .dream file does not carry Dreamer Pro itself. The recipient needs it installed.
- Videos stay links, and the link itself does not travel. Whoever imports the Dream sets their own. Intro cards do not travel.
- Importing into a world made by someone else, with different objects, has been tested between projects on one computer, not across another person's world.
Vision FX#
- One effect, Fade to Black. The fade is linear.
Camera#
- On a long Soft Surrender move, the controls can end up off to one side of the window.
- A teleport that falls inside a camera shot is skipped.
